Social Enterprise Day Event

To celebrate Social Enterprise Week in November 2008, the Merthyr Tydfil Social Economy Network will be organising a Social Enterprise Day Event on the 18th of November 2009 at the Orbit Business Centre, Rhydycar Business Park, Merthyr Tydfil, CF48 1DL.

The theme for this year’s event is a continuation from last year's: ‘The Social Entrepreneur’.  We all remembered the insipring presentation from Mr. John Bennett, Director of Pack-It, who enthused and enthralled us with his organisation's journey from a simple business idea to one that is now considered to be amongst the world leaders in the third sector.

The Merthyr Tydfil Social Economy Network is delighted to welcome him back as our keynote speaker at this Social Enterprise Day event.  As one of the most innovative leaders working in the sector today, John will undoubtedly inspire us again with his wealth of knowledge, considerable success and his real passion for tackling long-standing health and social inequalities.

Plus:

·  case study presentations from two local social enterprises;

·  a list of Workshops to choose from; and

· a small interactive exhibition to showcase Merthyr Tydfil’s talents.   Only six spaces are available and these will be allocated on a first come basis.

· a Q & A session with a panel of leading social enterpreneurs and practitioners.

The Merthyr Tydfil Social Economy Social Enterprise Day event is a must for anyone operating in the: community-based, voluntary and social enterprise sector.  It is also useful for policy makers and statutory agencies keen to gain more of an understainding about the economic contribution made by the third sector: job creation, tackling unemployment and achieving social inclusion.

The event will provide excellent networking opportunities by bringing together like minded people to share their knowledge and learn from each other.  Always informative, it guarantees to tackle issues facing the sector today to sustain tomorrow’s future.
