BASIC SKILLS & THE EMPLOYERS PLEDGE IN THE THIRD SECTOR

jointly run by Connecting Learners, Cartrefi Cymru and WCVA

Free of Charge - 1 day duration, 10.00am - 3.30pm

Location: Cartrefi Cymru offices:

Wednesday 8 October – Llandrindod Wells

Thursday 9 October – Bangor

Friday 10 October – Bridgend

The aim of the day is to provide individual organisations with an opportunity to learn more about the Basic Skills Employers Pledge, how to  ensure the upskilling of those with basic skills issues and how the new WULF (Welsh Union Learning Fund) project, Connecting Learners, can help to put these in place. The day is aimed at senior managers who hold ultimate responsibility for signing up to the Pledge and ensure the upskilling of the workforce.

Cartrefi Cymru is one of the largest organisations within the Voluntary and Community Sector and hosts the project manager for Connecting Learners. They have been awarded the Basic Skills Employers Pledge and will share their experiences in each of the days.  Connecting Learners is a Welsh Union Learning Fund project, funded by the Welsh Assembly Government.  Its aim is to increase effective work based learning particularly amongst low level employees. WCVA, as an umbrella organisation for this sector, lends its support to the Connecting Learners project, is part of the project’s management structure and is keen to encourage participation in these training days.
