The debate is taking place in Cardiff on Tuesday 20th April. If you or your members / service users are interested in being part of the audience and possibly asking a question to the Politicians please contact Clare Lutwyche. If you are interested the timescale is short and if you are interested then please contact Claire by Tues 13th April and questions will need to be submitted by 10am Thursday 15th April.
ITV Wales will be recording a televised debate with the Welsh Political Party Leaders. The Welsh Leaders, as chosen by their parties, are Cheryl Gillan (Conservative), Peter Hain (Labour), Ieuan Wyn Jones (Plaid Cymru) and Kirsty Williams (Liberal Democrat). The one hour long debate will be taking place in the Coal Exchange in Cardiff Bay in front of an audience of eighty people. Twenty four of these will come from the political parties (six for each) but we are inviting interested (non-party) members of the public to make up the remainder of the audience.
We are interested in involving as wide a range of interested people as possible from first time voters, to business owners and full time parents etc. I would like to offer the opportunity for some individuals involved with your organisation to attend. We are ideally looking for ordinary voters who want to raise concerns, although we would be happy for a member of your team to attend as a representative. Members of the audience will also have the chance to submit a question in advance, which if picked, they can address to the panel of politicians. Spaces are limited and are being allocated on a first come first served basis. We will also need to know the names of everyone attending in advance of the debate.
The debate will be recorded at the Coal Exchange, Mount Stuart Square, Cardiff CF10 5EB. Audience members should aim to arrive by 5.30pm. We will start the recording at 6.30pm. The programme will be just under one hour long, recorded “as live” with no commercial breaks, for transmission at 9pm that night. We should be finished by 8pm at the latest.
The format will consist of an introduction from the presenter, Jonathan Hill, who will then ask each leader to make opening remarks for no more than a minute. After that, he will take (pre-submitted) questions from an invited, non affiliated audience plus questions submitted by ITV Wales News viewers, which Jon will read out. Jon will also ask supplementary questions of his own.
