Merthyr Tydfil Local Health Board has reviewed General Practice (GP) services across the County Borough of Merthyr Tydfil and wants to improve the health services in the Merthyr Vale and Plymouth wards, by building one new large GP surgery. This will replace all the existing GP practices in Aberfan and Troedyrhiw. It will bring the GPs together into one facility. It will give patients more choice, a modern facility and more health services can be provided locally. In the new facility, or co-located with it, may be other health services such as dentistry, pharmacy and community services, which will improve the way services work together.
