Children & Young People’s Voluntary Organisations Forum
Formed in 2002, the Children and Young People’s Voluntary Organisations Forum is a network of third sector organisations working with children young people and families within the County Borough of Merthyr Tydfil. The Forum has developed its own Manifesto – Merthyr Tydfil’s Children and Young People – Our Future
The Forum has direct links to the Borough’s Children and Young People’s Partnership, which has developed A Good Today and a Bright Tomorrow - the Children and Young People’s Plan for Merthyr Tydfil 2008-2011.
The vision of the partnership which is reflected in the plan is
‘In Merthyr Tydfil, all our children and young people enjoy life and achieve their full potential’

TERMS OF REFERENCE
The Forum has agreed terms of reference which are reviewed at least every two years. The next review will be undertaken in 2009.

MEMBERSHIP
The current membership includes a broad range of Third Sector organisations operating locally, regionally and nationally.
Third sector organisations participating in the Forum are encouraged to become members of VAMT, and can register by downloading and completing an application form here.
Statutory partners are also welcome to engage with the Forum for the benefit of information sharing, consultation and networking.

CHAIR, CHAMPION AND REPS
Chair
The Chair of the Forum is elected to serve for a term of two years, as outlined in the terms of reference.
Champion
Within the Elected Members there is a Councillor whose responsibility it is to Champion the rights of children and young people within the County Borough.
Reps
CYPVOF members elect a pool of representatives to represent the third sector in Borough-wide planning groups and fora linked to the Children and Young People’s Partnership.
